Katherine Holden marked her 70th birthday, June 2012, to climb wild trees around the world, 8 forests in 24 months to be exact. She is doing it to draw attention to wonder of old growth trees and the threats that surround them. She will face biting ants, snakes, inclement weather, slippery moss and unfriendly officials in her attempt to highlight the issues facing some of the planets oldest forests; from the mahogany trees in Peru, threatened by logging and gold mining, to the rosewoods of Madagascar, disappearing at an alarming rate.
